I have been receiving e-mails recently about the high powered rigs shown on this website and how to go about setting up something similar. So I figured I should get to it and post some instructions. I’ve also posted some links with some sources for getting the parts.
Connect all of the equipment as shown in the diagram below. In the rigs shown on this site, the sound source is either a computer playing back a .wav file or tone generator. However, a tone generator might be prohibitively expensive. A much cheaper alternative would be to purchase the BarkstopCD and use your own CD player as shown in the diagram.
The most important part of this project is to have a good understanding of how impedance is affected when connecting multiple speaker elements. Here’s a site I found that has an excellent explaination of the subject. DIY Audio and Video
This project should only be completed by those having a reasonable degree of audio and electronics knowledge. I cannot be held responsible for injury or damage caused by improper connection or use of equipment.
I have provided some links below if you are interested in finding the parts to build a rig like the ones featured on this site. Have fun!
